Converting and painting a Thousand Sons Rhino

Another Rhino for my Rubrics to ride in. This time, I started with a clean base, as I wanted to rather decorate the hull with Egyptian hieroglyphs.

Conversions

I literally glued two boltguns together for a combi bolter. Glue to the existing pintle mount.

Pin a HK missile launcher to a green stuff filled plasticard tube, and glue a magnet in the end. Drill a magnet in the hull.

Plug the open hatch with a piece of plasticard, then glue on the lower torso of a marine found in the bits box. Cobble together a marine with combi weapon, similar to the Khorne one, but use a metal Thousand Sons head instead.

Add bling with plasticard trim, brass symbols, bolt heads, and a Chaos dozer blade from the bits box. The hull is full of scratches and glue marks, I don't remember whether I bought it like that, or I cut off something after stripping the paint.

How do you know it's the bad guys? They have "demon" written on their book. This is to cover up a large scratch on the hull.

Painting

Start off as for the Rubric Marines.

Decorate the hull with symbols of the original 5 Thousand Sons cults, with the Pyrae being prominent. You know, flamer Rubrics. Fill out the rest using Egyptian hieroglyphs. I started with literally transcribing an Egyptian story of two brothers, but then it got boring with repeating symbols, so I just improvised.

Flame icon and Green plasma coils on the marine.

Finish off by weathering the hull and the tracks. Add black pigment around the exhaust.

Finished!
