For my final game, I once again expected someone new to play against - instead, I got my regular opponent. After the hard loss against the Targaryens, I would not put the mammoths on the table, instead resorting to anti infantry tactics once more.
Already aware of my opponent's favorite strategy, the refuse flank, I placed chariots on both ends, ready to snag the objective. The left one did just that, and scored points during rounds 2-6.
In the middle, melee was quickly joined. The savages and spearwives, working together, killed off a unit of skirmishers. Then the archers were blocked in combat by a chariot. By the time they got out, everyone was kung fu fighting.
With the right chariot dead while heroically blocking the archers, we got into a tug of war, retreating, healing, charging back in.
I made a mistake by retreating the Thenns too far, allowing the freed up mercenaries to catch the Spearwives. I quickly lost both light units.
However, the endless horde triggered, with a unit of Raiders making in just at the end of round 4.
I charged in, fought, then fought again at the start of the next turn while also copying the abilities of the Thenns and inflicting 5 hits at the start. To everybody's surprise - especially mine - the Golden Company Swordsmen died.
I retreated, but with the mercenaries on the advance, I marched the Thenns right in front of them. Good luck going past that speed bump!
The game ended, and I squeezed out a standard victory by scoring more points here at the end.
