Painting converted Fallen

Finally something new to paint for my Chaos Marines! I do love my Word Bearers and the paint scheme I devised is quick and great looking, but it does get old after a while.

Painting the common parts

Every Fallen has:

Some have:

And then, on to the fun experiments. With everybody carrying power weapons, I tried several color schemes.

Dark brass

Basecoat Tinny Tin. Mix in Polished Gold for broad highlights.

Agrax Earthshade recess shade.

Silver superhighlights.

Dark Angels symbols

On the one guy with a circle on his shoulder, I did Black Legion over white.

Everyone else got white over black. I started with the sword being way too big. The end result looked more like a cross with no space for the wings.

Black Legion is our friend covering up mistakes.

Much better.

Final result.

Simple blue-green blade

Grey Seer basecoat.

Coat Coelia Greenshade.

Grey Seer edge.

Dead White dots.

Simple purple blade

Basecoat Chainmail Silver. Coat Druchii Violet.

Edge highlight Silver.

Simple molten sword

Basecoat Black.

Stipple Heavy Red on the outside of the ends.

Highlight by stippling Wild Rider Red.

Silver edge and chipping.

I painted some molten blades in my time but this is the weakest.

Simple green power axe

Basecoat Grey Seer.

Coat Striking Scorpion.

Diluted 1:1 Ork Flesh, then paint the opposing edges and feather out the middle.

Do a second layer; third, if the blade is big enough.

Diluted Dark Angels Green (hue hue) for the ends.

Dead Flesh edge.

Dead White corners.

Blue power hammer

Basecoat Night Blue (over Black).

Mix in Ultramarine for directional highlights coming from the point of impact.

Mix Ultramarine with Electric Blue for more highlighting from the same direction.

Drybrush Electric Blue. Keep it directional.

Mix in Ghost Grey for the final directional drybrush. If this was an actual hammer, I would be drawing lightning patterns with this color coming from the point of impact, however with a hammer head this detailed I saw no point.

Fancy green power axe

Basecoat Dark Green.

Mix in Sick Green for the first round of highlights. I did both edges at the end, and the middle of the axe blade.

Third layer with Sick Green.

Edge highlight Scorpion Green, then also draw small lightning patterns coming from the center line.

Final highlights with Fluorescent Yellow.

Finished!
