I had a number of Berzerkers bought second hand off eBay. They sat a bit in the closet even after being paint stripped. So here's them being prepared for the table.
High quality photos taken by GM Photography.
Conversions
Being old models, they are all chain weapons and bolt pistols. No eviscerators. No plasma pistols. I fished plasma pistols from the bits box, but for the eviscerators, I found these two ork weapons. I cut off the axe heads, and glue them to the thunder hammer shafts.
Pretty distinctive when put next to a regular chainaxe.
In order to have both 2x5-man squads and one 10-man squad available, I created an extra Champion. In order to avoid conflicts on the eviscerator-wielding guys, I placed the icons on the Champions. This is simply pinning existing icons on to the backpacks.
Painting
Prime Leadbelcher. Drybrush Silver.
Paint the Brass trim.
Fill in the armor panels Blood Angels Red.
At this point I remembered that the urban base requires heavy drybrushing and solved that instead (as usual, without the final drybrush).
Then carry on to Black Templar joints, Silver then Waystone Green eyes. Go over any exhausts and do a cheap OSL using Striking Scorpion. Paint the Bone on the banner. Green plasma coils on the pistols.
The right shoulderpad gets the chapter icon of the Serrated Sun. On the left, I started with the flame from the legion icon of the Word Bearers...
...then added the World Eaters jaws using Black.
I had two guys with exposed faces, so just medium skintone. Warm white cloth for the second banner, and add a bloody inscription and hand print using Blood Angels Red.
There are some leather belts, which I painted Heavy Brown, then Agrax Earthshade. Hammered Copper on the extra shells, although they get lots in all the red, so probably silver would have been better.
Add eyes to the one exposed face. Paint any tassles Aeldari Emerald.
Basing
Paint the marble pieces of statues. Finish off the cobblestone colored base with the final drybrush.
