I joined the appropriate kickstarter for The Edge: Dawnfall as it had demon miniatures, and it seemed like a great idea for Warhammer. Then it was delayed, and I got my stuff somewhere else. Also the big guys are not quite big enough for greater daemons. The smaller guys are included in weird numbers. Anyway, I shelved the idea (and the miniatures) for a long time. Then I stumbled upon them recently, and I thought, since I did not do slapchop in quite a while, let's put two and two together.
Note that the game seems dead, there is no wiki, no other info on what is what. Sadly, that's the fate of most (if not all) complex board games, no matter how much the producer promises a living game. Anyway, I'm just saying that I don't know what the darkness models are properly called.
Painting demon hounds
Diluted Skeleton Horde on the teeth and claws, Volupus Pink mouths, Gryph Charger Grey spikes. They look quite scary and sinister, I was tempted to leave them like that. This is how Flesh Hounds should look to be properly scary.
I painted the right guy Fyreslayer Flesh, but it came out too light. Then I tried Carroburg Crimson, but it was too pink.
So I painted Fyreslayer Flesh on the pink areas, except the joints; and I painted Carroburg Crimson along any border with other areas, kind of how you do inflamed flesh.
Also Blood Angels red tail spikes.
Painting darkness tentacled demons
Slapchop!
Diluted Skeleton Horde on the claws. Going on what I learned with the hounds, I coated the guys Carroburg Crimson.
Guilliman Flesh (left) vs Fyreslayer Flesh (right).
Accentuate the tentacles with Volupus Pink. I tried Nazdreg Yellow and Akhelian Green on the armor plates. I must say that the blue is just spectacular.
Painting the demon brute
Slapchop!
Just Contrast paints for starters. The bone was too stark, so I introduced some Agrax Earthshade in the shadows for browns.
I really dig the Nazdreg Yellow NMM-type effect.
The model is full of small buckles and chains that didn't show the Basilicanum Grey over, so I just overbrushed Leadbelcher. Then I painted the eyes Dead White, then Striking Scorpion.
Basing
I decided to potentially use the Brute as a daemon prince, so pin him to a prepared Warhammer-esque base.
For the other guys, I painted the base green swirls, then Mordant Earth. Same idea as the lava base, but greenscale instead of red.
