Painting a purple lightning Hellblade

Black undercoat.

Wetblend Hexed Lichen and Magic Blue, with the purple in the center.

Edge highlight the blade with Magic Blue, and draw the central line with Hexed Lichen.

Mix Dead White into Hexed Lichen  (about 1:3) and draw the lightning.

Highlight with 1:2 mix.

1:1 highlight the bends in the lightning.

2:1 highlight.

Use tiny dots of Dead White for the finest of superhighlights.

I wanted to darken down the blade, perhaps a subtle purple gradient... I applied successive layers of watered down Druchii Violet. First 2/3 towards the tip, then 1/3, then just the tip. All that did was to kill the shine.

So I finished with a gloss varnish.
