Converting and painting Palatine Guard as Krieg Combat Engineers (with mine dogs)

More Napoleonic Kriegers, this time the Combat Engineers. Instead of drones, they will use WW2 Russian mine dogs.

Converting the engineers

Prepare the bodies - glue on heads and backpacks. 15 guys - 1 flamer, 1 watchmaster, 1 drone controller, and 2 shotgunners in each squad.

These 3d printed flamers worked out well.

Since my drones are actually mine dogs, the controllers only need sticks - to throw under a tank and yell FETCH! Use drumstick hands. There's also pistols in the kit - graft them unto empty hands.

Use superglue to graft plasma pistols unto empty hands for the watchmasters.

I had some clone trooper blasters for some reason. With their short barrels, they make excellent shotguns. Hack at the arms until they are passable.

Painting the dogs

Prime them white and paint the bases. After painting the dogs, paint the trigger metallic and the bags Dark leather. Paint the eyes and noses Black Legion. Volupus Pink inside the mouth.

Black dog

Basecoat Black Legion.

Coat Drakenhof Nightshade. I see no change.

Highlight 2:1 Black + Turquoise.

German shepherd

Basecoat Seraphim Sepia.

Paint most of its fur Aggaros Dunes. Paint the back , ears and a line across the face Black Legion.

Grey dog

Coat Soulblight Grey.

Paint Targor Rageshade halfway up the legs, then feather out. Soft drybrush Grey Seer all over.

Superhighlight 2:1 Off White + Stonewall Grey.

Painting the soldiers

As per the painting tip.

Finished!
