I really thought that I had nailed this Here we stand scenario with my army composition. I had more units, including my outflanking Raiders, and more NCUs.
By turn 2, the battle lines were drawn, and I couldn't wait to get all my points in.
Umber Berserkers turned around to charge my outflanking Raiders, but I managed to get away and dance around until the end of the game, tying them up without them actually doing any killing.
But that was actually a problem, since the Berserkers could leisurely hold their quarter with their 8 points. With most of the Tully host in my home quarter, I also focused my forces. However, both of their units were 9 points - I couldn't beat that.
My original plan was pretty well thought out, or so I like to think, with the Tully cavaliers drawn in and surrounded. However, they really couldn't fail a morale test, even with -4, and when they did, Eddard came to the rescue.
By round 4, I managed to trap and kill the archers, but the Savages were killed in turn. Scoring was very difficult, and the Tully host scored just a point over me every round.
In the end, I pulled back and tried to just control quarters, but even so the expensive NCU support beat me.
Again, the points disparity wasn't that bad, and the opponent got a standard victory.
Back to my initial remark, I actually lost this game during terrain placement. I thought I was favoring myself with the Weirwood trees, given that Free Folk units have bad morale. But I was actually favoring the morale based Tully army, which healed and dealt wounds with each successful check.
