First and foremost, as always, miniature painting: the year has been incredible! I set the goal to paint 365 miniatures, with multipliers. Well the final result is 435, or 569 with multipliers! Time to open the champagne.
Random stuff for D&D front left, and the guard contingent in the back.
Chaos Space Marines take up the center.
More random stuff in the back right, and some of my commission work still residing with me in the front.
Now to break that down, with multiplied numbers in brackets. Consulting the spreadsheet, I painted 72 (99) Chaos Marines and 39 (108) Imperial Guard. The rest is a random assortment of other stuff for Warhammer, RPG miniatures, gifts etc. If the number of miniatures pictured doesn't quite add up, that is because I commission painted 222 (233) ASOIAF miniatures and 37 (45) miniatures for RPGs.
That was a mouthful, so what is up for 2025?
Generally, I will have a go at pumping up the numbers again, with one significant modification to the count: I will add whatever miniatures I get in the negative. So, I mean to paint 365 more miniatures than I buy in 2025. Doable? Let's make it so! Second, it kinda stings that although I painted a bucketload of miniatures, almost half of them were commissions. Now, I had a nice racket going on, getting paid in 3d prints, beer and printed books[1]. I will still keep some of it up, but the focus will be on reducing my own pile of potential.
All in all, I'm an even happier painter than last year.
Gaming wise, Warhammer 40k and, unexpectedly, A Song of Ice and Fire filled out the year's wargaming. Notice that large Sigmar shaped hole. I might try to get back into either Age of Sigmar or try out The Old World, but currently all my itches are scratched, so we'll see.
Dungeon of the Mad Mage keeps trucking on, even with a summer hiatus filled out by boardgames and stuff. We blazed through the 17th level of the dungeon (it was a fun one, at least for me), with 6 more to go. Will we actually finish the adventure in 2025? Stay tuned to find out.
I hopped into another D&D campaign as a player. Keys from the Golden Vault is a brilliantly fresh take on the game. I loved every second of it. Even with the brief hiatus where we played Call of Cthulhu, I expect to finish this campaign in 2025. Speaking of Cthulhu, Lucy should resume her investigations right after.
Finally, a new chapter of hobbying opens up with me reviewing some video games I played these last years. Don't expect the latest and greatest, although some newer titles are in there. I plan a jaunt into Baldur's Gate 3 shortly, so that might clog up the works in January.
Happy hobbying, and may all our 2025 targets come true!
[1] Warhammer rulebooks, which I barely got to use, as they went out of date almost immediately. Grumble grumble.
