Daemons of Khorne vs Thousand Sons, 2020.02.29

Introduction

The Thousand Sons rocked Ahriman, two squads of Rubric Marines and a squad of Scarab Occult Terminators with both the Helfyre Missile Rack and the Soulreaper cannon. I deployed first, but I let them have the first turn due to minimal line of sight available, as well as wanting to counter the terminators arriving from reserves.


Battle round 1

The Thousand Sons moved about, looking for clear lanes of firing. Some psychic powers went off, but no shooting. Hilariously, they suffered Perils of the Warp twice, leaving some Rubrics dead.

The daemons of Khorne advanced...



... and charged! The Flesh Hounds did not kill the Rubrics, but at least they tied  them up.

Battle round 2


The Terminators did not land, as the Thousand Sons tried to clear as much of my ground forces as possible. The ill-fated Rubric squad killed itself with Perils of the Warp.


I countered by not placing the Bloodletters and charging into combat. Ahriman took out the Skullmaster easily.

Battle round 3


With no choice left, the Terminators landed near the survivors and opened fire, clearing me off the table. My next turn, the Bloodletters landed as well and returned the favor - although they did not kill everything in one go, and Ahriman and the Scarab Occult Sorcerer managed to hit back, killing Bloodletters and having more fleeing to morale.

Aftermath


A bloody and close game, with me winning 500-444.
