Converting and painting Frozen Shore Hunters

A tournament prize from back in 2025. I didn't really want to paint these guys, but I had an idea for an experiment and I dove in.

Patching up and painting 3d printed Tauroxes

I liked the humvee, but it wasn't quite Taurox-like enough. So I experimented with having another model 3d-printed. However, the printer kept misfiring, and I actually received 4 damaged hulls instead of 1 whole one. I decided to take it as a challenge.

Converting Fallen to function as Chosen and characters

I decided that I need some Chosen, but I'm honestly sick of painting dark red power armor. So here's a fun idea: I have loads of space marine bodies. By slapping on some green stuff robes, I can paint them up as Fallen. This was super fun, and I ended up hammering out a squad of 10, as well as attachable characters.

LED streets light on the scout sentinel bases

I wanted to LED up the sentinels, but the miniature itself has no interior space to hide the circuitry. I decided to experiment with something new. I bought these ages ago when I started doing LEDs in miniatures. I decided to hide everything in between the basing material. Buckle up.

Converting Skitarii into Catachan city fighters

I bought a set of Skitarii a long time ago a huge discount. They sat patiently in the closet until the Escher conversions sparked an idea. I want some Catachans in the army but I'm not shelling out money on GW's dated looking models. So here's the idea: use the Skitarii as city fighters, painting their cloaks in grey city camo. I also wanted them to better fit my almost-all-female nun army, so I bought some female heads for them. Besides two sets of Rangers, I also had a box of Ruststalkers - perfect for the beefier Catachan characters.

Converting Escher gangers into Kasrkin

I had some Escher sprues (3x5 gangers) since forever. Initially I envisioned them as Slaaneshi cultists, but then I got actual cultists from a Dark Vengeance box, and so in the pile of potential they stayed. Up until now. Playing Necromunda Underhive Wars sparked the idea to convert them and use them as Kasrkin. Kind of makes sense, as the kasrkin are literally 'city kin'. Who is more city dwelling than the hive gangers? Now I wanted to stick to the Escher aesthetics, so the conversions are only aimed at achieving WYSIWYG equipment, as follows: sergeant with power weapon and plasma pistol; two plasma guns; two volley guns; one pistol and melta mine; one sniper rifle; voxcaster; four lasguns.

Fixing, converting and magnetizing a Chaos Rhino and Land Raider

With the latest changes to 9th edition Warhammer 40k, most vehicle upgrades became free. Given how well the tanks performed during their latest games, I was inspired to make them WYSIWYG. They were bought second hand and are pretty damaged.

Converting and painting Nurgling beast handlers and riders

This is a conversion I started years ago. Never finished it due to having lost interest in Nurglings after the first 6 painted bases. I have no idea what sort of creatures the Tyranid-looking things are. I bought them second hand at a discount.

Converting the ring-bearer Daemon Prince

Two birds with one stone: one old Daemon Prince bought off eBay and primed white a long time ago; and a conversion idea for this spring's painting competition.

Converting and painting Chaos Cultists

These Cultists have seen action in times past. I decided to paint them up inspired by the Gaunt's Ghosts novel 'Honor Guard', which features Chaos forces calling themselves the Infardi and wearing green robes.

Converting Furry Force themed Possessed

I suppose you know about this gem (also part 2 and part 3). Now up until this moment, all my conversions have been utilitarian. If I'm missing the right model because it's OOP or whatnot, maybe the right wargear, I'd convert it. I never 'got' themed conversions. Until this one clicked...

Converting Obliterators

Introduction

The idea to do this is actually very old. Once upon a time I used a lot of Obliterators in a local tournament. I borrowed the models; saw how well they did; and decided to get some. At the time, we only had the old Finecast models which were a) resin b) horribly expensive. I decided to convert some. Of course with real life knocking out the hobby side of things for a while, it all remained a fanciful idea. When Shadowspear came out and we finally got updated models, I was disheartened to see that the models had grown to be humongous. I left everything half baked... Now as I started on my Chaos Marines, I decided on finishing these lads as well.

Custom magnetized accessories for Astra Militarum tanks

In the current Astra Militarum codex, any tank can take items from the 'Vehicle equipment list' - augur array, dozer blade, hunter-killer missile - but only the Chimera kit has these items. Since I have 2 Chimeras and 2 Leman Russ tanks, I decided on converting these items so that any or all of my tanks could equip them.

Magnetizing a Leman Russ Battle cannon/Vanquisher/Exterminator/Nova

Disregard the tutorial completely this time. LED work is not compatible with detachable turrets, and I dislike the idea anyway.

Converting Ogors into Bullgryns

Introduction

After the Ogryns, I converted the remaining 3 Ogors into Bullgryns. At least these are useful on the battlefield.

Converting Ogors into Ogryns

Introduction

If you compare the pricing of Ogryns and Ogors, you'll notice that 6 models are better than 3 for the same price. Of course, a bit of conversion work is required.

Modeling hair on a Callidus Assassin

Introduction

This Callidus Assassin that I bought cheap from eBay was missing her hair.

Magnetizing an Astra Militarum Chimera

Introduction

I always wanted a vehicle or some such to fully magnetize with a lot of options. Demons can be magnetized but it doesn't look pretty, they being organic and rounded shapes. The opportunity presented itself when I bought a Chimera for my nuns to ride in.
