Converting and painting Free Folk heroes

I already like the minis so no major conversions. Also slapchop isn't good enough for them.

Daenerys to Lady Dalla conversion

I got an extra Daenerys with the dragon box so put her to good use by converting to Lady Dalla. Here's the original mini, who the hell knows what are those bits on the right.

So chop them off along with a bit of hair.

Then wrap her shoulders in a fur cloak.

Craster rebasing

Rip the fat bastard off his base and glue on a 3d printed wooden topper on a regular 32mm base.

Also place a bit of green stuff fur on his lap and put a rabbit on it. Ready to serve m'lord!

Painting

Prime white. Start with Ice base and Brown fur.

Make this lore accurate Mance Rayder cloak by painting it half Black Templar, half Flesh Tearers Red. Continue as per Faded red cloth. Agrax over everything, then highlight the black Cold Grey.

Experiment with this cold white dress. Paint Apothecary White. Recess shade Gryph Charger Grey.

Layer Ghost Grey. Highlight Dead White.

Now paint the rest.

• Cold white hair - blend Thormund into Basilicanum Grey, blend Mance into Agrax
• metallic swords and chainmail
• Shiny gold bracers on Thormund
• Bronze helmet and bracers on Mance
• Bones on the base and claws on Thormund
• various leather highlighted as appropriate

Blend Thormund's white cloak, same as the dress, into Space Wolves Grey.

Aditionally:

• Blond hair
• Red hair

Coat Lady Val's wooden totem Wyldwood, then highlight Ultramarine Blue.

Craster (painted a bit later separately) is mostly the same. Paint his hair Soulblight Grey, then add Nuln Oil on the ends. Paint the rabbit Grey Seer, then Soulblight Grey. Highlight Ghost Grey, then white. Paint the shirt Ratling Grime, highlight Stonewall Grey, then white. Warm white pants.

• Wooden floor, but also apply the same across the chair.
