Uprising on Mane Primus - Mission #9 Game

Mission

The scouts set up the terrain, establishing a defensive perimeter some way from the downed Thunderhawk. Their mission: hold back the enemy! Each enemy unit in the scouts' zone at the end of the game meant victory points for the rebels.

The close combat and support scouts hid in the treeline, leaving the snipers and Oberon in the back lines. A large protruding rock provided excellent cover for 3 sniper scouts, while Oberon established himself a nest complete with razor wire.

Uprising on Mane Primus - Mission #9 Story

Karn racked his sniper rifle, and fired. The shot hit, but deflected harmlessly off power armor. The traitor marine howled, his voice distorted by the grotesque helmet. Karn ducked, as his position was showered by bolt shells. He scurried over to another balcony, and looked around. From the neighboring hab-block, another sniper scout held the traitors back for a moment with supressing fire. Then he too had to duck, as the tank opened up again. Although Karn never considered Rhinos to be anywhere near a main battletank, this foul machine, decorated with blasphemous sigils and symbols that made the eyes hurt, was outfitted with some sort of frag launcher and one of those powerful bolters that the marines also carried.

Using the momentary respite, as the enemy concentrated on the other hab-block, Karn stuck his head out. He identified the positions took up by Alpha Squad in an instant. Their situation was dire. The vox was useless, spouting in turn blasphemous curses or ululating cries. Multiple scouts had been incapacitated, or otherwise severely wounded. The enemy was pressing them hard. He saw no way out. Except...
It must have been the Emperor interceding on their part. Karn saw no other explanation. After the final fusilade, the enemy weapons fell silent almost as one. The chaos marines reloaded. The near silence was eerie  after the continuous firefight, and it wouldn't last long. Karn inhaled, then shouted at the top of his lungs.
'Sigma-9!'
He ducked back immediately, and his position was again battered by bolter fire. The surviving cultists added their meager autoguns to the onslaught, and a moment later, the frag launcher on the Chaos Rhino thumped and fired as well. Karn fell back. He could only hope that his squad mates had heard him, and had understood his meaning. He would provide them with some cover - wild shots fired while running... as much as he could muster while making his escape.

Two days later - Emperor knows how - Alpha Squad had reunited at grid point Sigma-9.

Uprising on Mane Primus - Mission #8 Game

Mission

The Scouts set up the terrain, leaving a stretch of "highway" bare at the top. They had the option to sit tight and out of line of sight for as many turns as they liked, and I gave warning that I'll play the enemy intelligently. Commanders may hide behind walls, or they might hold back and not come on at all if threatened.

Uprising on Mane Primus - Mission #8 Story

Argus stood behind a wall, weapons at the ready. The enemy convoy was en route, belching smoke in the distance. The far off rumble assured him of a few more minutes of calm before the storm. He was tired, but he fought it off. He closed his eyes, mind focusing.

Painting a female inquisitor/vampire hunter

Introduction

I received this mini as a gift beside a larger purchase from Hasslefree Miniatures. I packed her away at the time; but now, I broke her out for MAGUS. She is part of a string of short projects that I want to finish after my long running Plague Drones.

Chaos vs Imperium, 02.08.2019

Introduction

The Salamanders advanced under an ever-shifting crimson sky. They were the spear, thrust into the enemy's rotten heart. Their battle-brothers had already engaged the enemy on the flanks. They would not have to wait long, now. Across the ruined cityscape, a towering monstrosity lumbered into view. Surrounded by its putrid kin, the Great Unclean One bellowed its challenge...

Going old school!

Painting Black Widow

Introduction

I received this mini as a gift beside a larger purchase from Hasslefree Miniatures. I know she's not called Black Widow there, but she does bear an uncanny resemblance to Scarlett Johansson's rendering of the Marvel heroine, so I went with that. She is part of a string of short projects that I want to finish after my long running Plague Drones.

Simplified black cloth

Simpler than the original, fit for smaller surfaces.

Cobblestone base

Low effort cobblestone bases

I really like the way my previous cobblestone bases look. However, the effort that goes into every single one of those bases makes it unfeasible to apply to any wargaming miniature squads. One here and there for fantasy minis - sure. But 30 for a squad of Cultists? No way. So I invested in some tools to be able to manufacture cobblestone bases for a very low costs and very little effort.

Stormvault campaign: Maggotkin vs Gloomspite Gitz, 08.08.2019

Introduction

The grot ran up the hill, breathing laboriously. He was annoyed at the hill, but ultimately, he did not mind. He liked to take long walks at night. It helped him think. Granted, most of his thoughts revolved around how to boss the other grots around more efficiently. That, and pushing mushrooms -  but that was only natural, for he was Nitgrot Shroompusha, Da Pusha uv Shroomz.

It was a good night for a walk. The Frazzlegit had gone to sleep, and the Bad Moon was visible just above the horizon. Nitgrot climbed to the top, and looked over the place where Da Spinny Gubbin lay. That would be a perfect place for a new garden, filled to the brim with mushrooms. His squigs needed to eat, after all. Something else than other grots, I mean.

His dreams of full-bellied mangler squigs was interrupted by the sight of something terrible. A hulking monstrosity sat beside Da Spinny Gubbin, tending a twisted tree of sorts. Nitgrot squinted, then shouted at the top of his lungs.

'Oy! Ya git! Dat's my garden, ya 'ear? Go away!'

Virulax looked up from his latest Gnarlmaw. They were beautiful, if a little boring after a while. His bellowing laughter rolled across the land. Nitgrot turned around, and ran back to his fellows.

A couple of hours later...

Ladybug painted on drinking cup

This is a custom painting done on my baby daughter's drinking cup. She needs something unique at kindergarten.

Painting a glacier/water elemental

Introduction

Our MAGUS characters can now command elemental slaves. Of course, regular elementals are way too mainstream: ours are each combinations of two elements. And so we get to this frosty themed water elemental - a perfect excuse to blend some blues.

Storm King's part 24 - Erős Pista face POC la capul tau

The Queen[1], one so called “Aunt”, some guards and the brave Adventurers all wait in Hekaton’s throne room for the two elder sister to be arrested.

The patrols sent in the search of the sisters report back with news that one sister is arrested and the other one escaped. When hearing the news the so called aunt suspects that she will be exposed as part of the plan so she takes action before any of us can react. She pulls the necklace from the queen’s neck and disappears by magic. The act is not without consequences, the Queen remains paralyzed on the throne and with great effort we manage to take her out of there.

Storm King's part 23 - First time in Hekaton’s Palace

After snatching the conch from GUHHH, we take the road back to Goldenfields. The trip is not boring at all, as we again encounter the Green Dragon that really really wants the “Staff of Seth”. He offers us “The Orb of the Dragons”, a powerful artifact that is supposed to be shattered to pieces when in great need, in exchange for our powerful Staff of Seth. Selene will make the deal with the dragon and so we are left with a new powerful artifact that we will never use… I’ll bite my tongue later in the story for this statement.

Painting a samurai

Introduction

I bought this samurai as a gift for a friend. I think I might just do more like this
