Dungeon of the Mad Mage: Magic academy of... you can't leave?!

We continued our fight with the devil. It resisted all my control spells, but it finally buckled under a barrage of magic missiles, arrows and hammer blows. As it discorporated[1], its clone also withered and died. Cool. We then looked for anything useful, and finding nothing, trashed the place to let off steam.

Painting ruined stone walls

Part of Reaper's Escape from Pizza Dungeon kickstater, Shadows of Ravenholme stretch goal.

Painting proxy Beasts of Nurgle (morbid beasts)

With all the Contrast-type paint jobs, highly detailed and/or giant models, I wanted to do something... nice and relaxing? So anyway here's 3 Nurgle models. The middle one is the original Kromlech morbid beast something, which I recast twice using blue stuff and milliput. Wouldn't recommend, they came out flat (but still suitably disgusting). I also needed to do a lot of green stuff work to mask the gigantic mold marks. In fact they were so much work that I was in no mood to paint them for years.

M.A.G.U.S. - Sinister shadows

The adventurers rested after fighting the demon dogs, then prepared for their next challenge: a huge copper door. The knight in full plate tried to open it - it was a shocking experience! However, he gritted his teeth, locked his spasming muscles, and slammed the door open. They were face to face with a huge giant made of assorted bodies![1]

Dungeon of the Mad Mage: Magic academy of demon summoning

Note that we played less this session, as we had another long-time missing player return as Selene, the sassy sorceress.

Anyway, we carried on deeper into the dungeon into man-made halls of stone. In a sort of entrance chamber, a withered hand floated in the air. I went to inspect it, only to receive a Cone of Cold in the face. Surprise!

Repainting armored Moria goblins

I got these four second hand as part of a lot deal. They were not badly painted - just unfinished, with only the basecoats on them. And so I decided to touch them up a bit.

Painting a dwarf adventurer/warrior

Part of a second hand lot. A welcome addition as I lack dwarves.

Painting dwarf paladins on a Contrast basecoat

Two pre-primed dwarf paladins from Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures. I severely lack dwarves, so these two can come in handy some day.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage: Zyn and the Legends were here... and they beat the frogs

The adventurers advanced into frog people territory, entering a large village full of frog people of all sort, but all of them destitute-looking. Asking about their leader, they pointed us towards the end of the village, where some platforms were raised on stilts. There we met a huge frog, Jabba-the-Hut style, holding a guy on a leash who was sadly playing his lute. This would be our new team mate, we knew.[1] Let's get down to business.

January review and February goals

So, uh, January passed.

Let's start with the good stuff. RPG sessions restarted after the winter holidays, and I played a game of 40k as well, so as not to forget how to roll dice. So far, so good.

At home hobbying is close to zero. I started unpacking my stuff, assembled some miniatures (least effort and quantity of equipment), but no painting. So. Much. Stuff. To. Do. Way too much stress and way less contiguous time to start painting. Way easier to unwind by slaughtering a bunch of pixel people, be that human soldiers (Assassin' Creed: Freedom Cry), necrons (Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus), demons (Diablo 2 Resurrected) or mutants (Fallout 4).

Although I am making teeny, tiny bits of progress towards my next goal, which is a converted miniature for the March painting competition, My Precious Edition...

Painting D&D druids and halfling rogues

Some pre-primed minis from Nolzur's line, which I quickly painted in between working on the long running project for the painting competition.
