Mission: The Emperor's will (we initially rolled the Scouring, but we didn't have numbered objectives on the spot)
Map: Dawn of War
Lists:
Chaos Daemons:
- 16 Bloodletters, icon, instrument, Bloodreaper
- 14 Daemonettes, icon, instrument, Alluress
- 5 Seekers, icon, instrument (intended to rush forward and provide precision deep strikes)
- 3 Screamers
- Skarbrand warlord
- Daemon Prince of Slaanesh, greater + exalted gift, lvl 3 Psyker (got Warp Tether and FnP 4+)
- Soul Grinder of Nurgle with phlegm bombardment
- Chapter Master on bike, Chapter Relic (shield), proxied
- 6 Assault Terminators
- Vanguard Veterans (runic blade on sergeant)
- 5-man Devastator squad (2 lascannon, 2 missile launcher with flak)
- 2x10-man Tactical squad (flamer, heavy bolter)
- Venerable Dreadnought with 2x autocannon (rifleman configuration), proxied
Biker Master attached to terminators.
Combat squads on the right and behind the ruins.
Devastators on the first floor.
Vanguards in deep strike reserve.
I took advantage of what little cover my deployment zone provided.
This is my deep strike reserve - Skarbrand in the middle.
I failed to seize the initiative... time to weather a round of shooting!
Marines, turn 1.
Most of his stuff moved forward, trying to get into shooting range.
Below we see an Orbital Bombardment scattering to nowhere and hitting nothing. (Poor house.)
Daemons, turn 1.
Time to move up!
Rolled the Firestorm of Tzeentch on Warp Storm.
Yepp, those are failed armor saves.
Soul Grinder pie plates into the 10-man squad. Everything else runs forward. Daemon Prince flies off the table. I've left the model there as a marker.
Marines, turn 2.
Some shooting happened here.
One Seeker died. 4+ cover rocks! Everything else fired into the Screamers. I've got 1 left, hanging on with 1 wound. 4+ Jink save rocks! No First Blood.
Daemons turn 2.
Some successful deep strikes happened, with the Bloodletters bringing Skarbrand in. The Daemonettes failed to arrive though.
Move the Seekers up to assault. Moved in with the swooping Daemon Prince. That should distract the marines from the juicy and undefended targets that have just arrived by deep strike.
Also moved the Screamer back to hide behind the house. Don't give First Blood!
I've had some success with shooting (rolled Firestorm again, then the pieplate provided by the Grinder), but didn't take out anything. Failed the assault with the girls, got shot down by overwatch.
Marines, turn 3. Fingers crossed for the Daemon Prince.
... and those are the To Hit rolls of the flak missiles.
Fevered shooting, resulting in exactly 1 Seeker dead. The Daemon Prince got grounded, but took no wounds.
Vanguards came in (where that lone figure stands on the right).
Daemons, turn 3.
Time to move up the monstrous creatures for assault. Also time to hide the Seeker behind cover to deny First Blood.
Warp Storm - nothing. Pieplate - some damage.
... and assault!
... and fail the charge with Skarbrand. The Daemon Prince also rolled miserably. Two vanguards survive.
Marines, turn 4.
Everything unloaded into Skarbrand, bringing him down to 2 wounds.
Biker Master detached from terminators and joined the vanguards in the fight.
Terminators and the Dreadnought move up for melee.
The Daemon Prince is also reduced to 2 wounds.
Daemons, turn 4.
Daemonettes finally come in and run forward. Slaaneshi running bonus is extremely helpful.
Bloodletters move into the crater and brace for the charge.
Rolled Nurgle's Rot on the Warp Storm and killed a Terminator. Yaaay.
Also killed my Screamer. First Blood for the Marines. Unbelievable.
Marines, turn 5.
Everything unloads into Skarbrand (again) and he finally joins the casualty shelf:
This is what my Daemon Prince rolled for his To Hit on 5 attacks:
The Terminators charge the Bloodletters into difficult terrain (just as planned). One goes down due to a failed armor save. 2 Bloodletters also die. Thanks to the icon, we have tied combat.
Daemons, turn 5.
Warp Storm - nothing.
Daemonettes moved up and obliterated the Terminators.
Chapter Master vs Daemon Prince - tied combat, with 0 wounds either side. That's LITERALLY everything that happened here.
Marines, turn 6.
Some shooting, but nothing that matters.
Dreadnought charges Daemonettes. He has no melee weapon. Daemonettes glance on a hit of 6 (rending) + 3 on a D3. 1 Daemonettes dies, tied combat due to icon.
Chapter Master finally dies. Daemon Prince consolidates towards the tacticals holding the objective.
Daemons, turn 6.
Grinder and Seeker move up towards the Dreadnought.
Bloodletters move up towards the enemy deployment zone for Linebreaker (currently the Fists are winning).
The Dreadnought stands firm. The Grinder misses with all attacks.
The Daemon Prince annihilates all tacticals.
The Bloodletters run.
Marines turn 7.
Nothing happens whatsoever.
Daemons turn 7.
Bloodletters run and achieve Linebreaker.
Daemon Prince charges the Devastators. This is the chance to table the enemy!
... or not.
Game ends after turn 7. 2-2. Both sides have Slay the Warlord. Fists have First Blood, Daemons have Linebreaker.
TIE!
And epic handshake.
