I brought the Bloat Drones for screen clearing duties, the Havocs as a firebase and the Obliterators + Bloodletters as deep striking heavy hitters.

Deployment: Search and Destroy

Bloodletters, Obliterators and Chaos Lord in reserve. Everything else behind a screen of Brimstones. Nurglings secured the right flank against the enemy deep strikers. Havocs in the ruin. The Blood Angels mirrored my deployment, with the Devastator firebase occupying the ruin. The Scouts pushed out the deployment zone boundaries. One unit of Death Company on the table.

Blood Angels, turn 1

After failing miserably the roll to begin, as well as the seize, I braced for the inevitable charge. Queue Forlorn Fury and the unit of Death Company already in my face... Luckily, I put the Daemon Princes in the back to avoid getting Thunder Hammer'd.

Lucky rolling on the part of the Devastators equals two dead Bloat Drones after the first shooting phase. I expected them to be more resilient than that.

The Death Company and Scouts shot a squad of Brimstones for Witch Hunter.

The Death Company assaulted my firebase and laid into the Havocs, but failed to kill anything relevant. Marines died, but all heavy weapons survived, even the morale phase.

Top Scouts assaulted the Nurglings (for an eternal combat), bottom Scouts went into the Brimstones.

With First Blood and some objectives scored, the game started well for the Angels.

Chaos, turn 1

I fell back with the Havocs and moved in with my Daemon Princes. Bloat Drone also moved on the Scouts, but already wounded, it couldn't kill them all. I needed some heavy hitters on the table. Enter the Bloodletter bomb. I landed them more than 12" away from the Devastators to avoid the Auspex Scan.

The Nurgle Prince moved into the Death Company and killed several, taking some wounds in return (even 1 on overwatch). The Khorne Prince moved to secure an objective for points. The Bloodletters assaulted and killed the center Scouts, using the movement to deny as much of the table as possible, as well as surround a Devastator marine.

Blood Angels, turn 2

All the Devastators and characters move to assault the Bloodletters.

Some shooting goes into the Bloat Drone, leaving it at 1 wound.

Everything charges the Bloodletters. The Helblasters prove surprisingly effective, due to the cumulative number of attacks, rerolls and wounding on 2+. I interrupt and chew through 2 Devastator squads, then die.

Nurgle Prince clears the Death Company, finishing at 2 wounds.

Chaos, turn 2

Havocs climb back into the ruins and fire upon the Helblasters, leaving 2 alive.
Nurgle Prince clears the bottom Scouts.
Nurglings spread out for more table control and some scoring objectives.

At this point I had a pretty good headway in Maelstrom points.

Blood Angels, turn 3

The remnants of the firebase regroup.

The Librarian lands in my back lines, jumps forward with a psychic power, but gets the plus attacks denied. The Havocs get assaulted (I foolishly placed them such that both could be engaged by a single model) and some die.

Lemartes lands out of LoS. Same for the Death Company.

Fire goes into the Bloat Drone, scoring Scour the Skies. The eternal Scout vs Nurglings combat continues.

Chaos, turn 3

I landed the Obliterators behind the enemy firebase and opened up on the Death Company, rolling poorly (even with Endless Cacophony) and barely killing a couple.

2 Smites as well as pistols and CC fail to kill the Librarian.

At this point I felt that I was behind on points and had to deny as much as possible, so the Khorne Prince killed the Helblasters denying Defend Objective 1. Sadly, I forgot that I landed the Obliterators in the back to avoid the Auspex Scan, leaving my warlord exposed to shooting.

The second squad of Nurglings, with zone denying no longer needed, joins the eternal combat.

Blood Angels, turn 4

The firebase moves on the Khorne Prince.

Dante and Lemartes set their sights on their prey. The Death Company close in on the Obliterators.

The Daemon Prince dies to shooting. The Obliterators resist the close combat, but are tied down and effectively neutered.

Chaos, turn 4

I still had a good lead in maelstrom points, so I thought to conserve the advantage and hide. And pray that the game ends after turn 5.

Turn 5-7

Unfortunately it did not, we played out all 7 turns, giving the Blood Angels ample opportunity to score maelstrom points, take over the board for eternal war points, and mop up my stragglers for killpoints. I finished the game with 2 models on the table: 1 Nurgling with 1 wound who survived being assaulted by the remaining Devastators and Scouts, and a Herald of Tzeentch with 1 wound who heroically survived close combat with the Death Company.

Game ends 20-0.

Aftermath

Well, I thought I had a pretty good list, but I took a severe beating. Had the game ended after turn 5, it would have been a tie or a close defeat, reminding me of the last championship. As it was, I was severely beaten. Nothing performed well, just OK. I'll have to rethink this whole business.
