More 3d printing adventures

Introduction

It looks like by the time we finish all the games where I wanted to use this, it will be done.
The printer has been out of my hands for some time - and a good thing too, as I barely had any time to paint or play, let alone do research and experiment with settings. While the experimentation is still in progress, there are a couple of things that had been printed since.

3d printed enhancements

The LCD is now mounted on the printer itself, using these handy clips.

The heatbed no longer has to be adjusted using a wrench thanks to these large screws.

Finally, most importantly: here's a secondary fan mounted on the print head, with a 3d printed funnel to direct the cold air where it needs to go.

3d printed experiments

That's all fine and well, but how about some actual stuff usable in games? Here's some stuff we tried out.

This is an ingenious system to clip pieces together.

Terrain sections, such as these corridors, can then be glued on the pieces above. The end result: modular dungeon tiles. (With clip-on doors!)

Miniature for scale.

I then tried to prime and paint these pieces, as a proof of concept. As they are still beta-test quality (lots of holes tiny in the surface), I bought an industrial spray primer that is supposed to be more coarse. All it managed to do was to warp the surfaces. Great.
