Painting a griffon

Introduction


Soon after fixing the leg of the griffon, I got the itch to paint it. Here goes...



Painting

Prime white, then spray Averland Sunset.

Painting the feathers


Basecoat Beasty Brown, except the longest row of feathers.


Heavy outline the second longest row of feathers with Black, then Black Wash on this and the row above.


Drybrush with a mix of Beasty Brown and Heavy Orange.


Drybrush the feathers with black outline using Sombre Grey.


Basecoat the longest row with Elf Skintone, then drybrush the topmost rows.


Wash the longest row with Agrax Earthshade.


Heavy outline the longest row with Bonewhite; drybrush just a bit on the top rows.


Highlight the Bonewhite with Off White.


White edge highlight.


Mouth


Basecoat the interior with Royal Purple.


Basecoat the tongue in Warlord Purple.


Edge highlight Squid Pink.


Wash Carroburg Crimson.

Also do the eyes and teeth.


Beak and front legs


Layer the front of the beak with Sun Yellow. 
Wash the legs Cassandora Yellow, then highlight with Sun Yellow.


Highlight the edge and tip of the beak with Fluorescent Yellow.


Fur and skin


Basecoat the fur in Heavy Brown. Highlight the skin in Heavy Goldbrown.


Wash both Agrax Earthshade.


Talons.


Glaze the skin in Heavy Goldbrown. Drybrush the fur with Heavy Brown, then Khaki.


Highlight the skin Sun Yellow. Final drybrush the fur Bonewhite.


Basing

Finished!
