Painting an oriental woman with fans

Introduction

Another mini for my MAGUS sorceress, giving bonuses to fan-based martial arts, mingling with nobles and putting on masks. From Reaper Miniatures.

Painting

Prime white.

I tried tackling the robes first, but she has a great number of fiddly details which I can't get to without messing up the yellow, so I left it at the Heavy Goldbrown undercoat.

Skin

I tried a paler tone than usual, but without going necrotic
Basecoat Pale Flesh, wash with Reikland Fleshshade, diluted with Lahmian Medium.

Highlight with Pale Flesh, then superhighlight with a mix of Pale Flesh and Off White.

Robes

For the orange sash, I imagined Hot Orange on the outside and Orange Fire on the inside.

Paint the robes as per blond hair, but apply the highlights as glazes.

A wash of Fuegan Orange pretty much meshed the two oranges together, and so I decided on simply highlighting all areas with Orange Fire, then Orange Fire mixed with Heavy Goldbrown.

Simplified black hair. Female face.

Red trim: Gory Red basecoat, highlight Fresh Blood, then Bloody Red. Same for the tassels.

Jade ornaments

Waystone Green on two jewels. Undercoat the rest in Heavy Blue.

Basecoat them in Turqoise, Jade Green and Sick Green, for variation.

Draw lines of Sick Green, Electric Blue, then mix them with white, and highlight.

Fans

Light brown wood, warm white paper.

Paint flowers with Warlord Purple and leaves with Heavy Green.

Highlight with Squid Pink and Dead Flesh.

Metal tips.

Basing

Finished!
