Rise and shine! Or not really, because we awakened in the dungeon. Which is very much to my liking, feels just like home![1]
Documenting the winding journey from beginning wargaming and PnP RPG-s, through low budget solutions, to a growing collection of painted miniatures and a veritable chronicle of games and campaigns.

Painting a Graveyard Golem
Introduction
The next largest commission work after the bone dragon, which a) looked simple enough to paint but b) gave me some ideas for experimenting: Reaper Bones Graveyard Golem.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage - Mirror, mirror, on the wall...
This wonderful display awaited us before the game, mapping our progress. We were delighted to recognize the rooms we passed through, and dismayed at how little we advanced. We got to work at once... haha, just kidding. First, we went back to the room with the statue to investigate.

Repainting Bloodletters
Introduction
I bought this 10-man squad of Bloodletters some time ago, and used them as part of the bomb. With the Path to Glory campaign, I want them brought up to standard.

Maggotkin of Nurgle vs Stormcast Eternals, 2020.03.11
Introduction
Since this was our first time playing each other, we decided to throw a matched play game after the Path to Glory one. Some time had passed since I got the nurglies out for a walk, so I readily agreed.
Wait, let's start again.
Virulax walks into a Sigmarite bar. The bartender asks: What will you... Take and Hold?
Battle round 1
Everyone prepares, casts their spells. A squad of Plaguebearers rushes forward in a flanking maneuver.

Path to Glory: Khorne vs Stormcast, 2020.03.10
Introduction
Soaring high in the air, Arbra'Gax followed the column of smoke to a small barbarian village. There was a gathering of sorts, a group of elders speaking to the populace. The Bloodthirster furled his wings and dove. The humans noticed the whistling of the air far too late, and by the time they lifted their gaze to the sky, Arbra'Gax was already crashing into them, smashing the speakers into bloody pulp. Ponderously, he got to his cloven feet, brandished his weapons, and howled. Most fled; some drew weapons. Arbra'Gax lifted his runesword, channeling his will into it, rising bloodlust spreading into the humans. Those nearest charged with a fierce cry. The Bloodthirster slew them; they were a good offering to Khorne. As the rage spread, the barbarians started hacking at each other. Soon, the village was a pile of corpse-strewn rubble. By the time his warband reached it, Arbra'Gax was already anointing the leaders of his new horde with the lifeblood of their once-friends.
'Great Lord! Who shall we slay next?' stuttered one.
'The lightning-men! They are building something! We shall hack them to pieces!' cried another, foaming at the mouth.
Arbra'Gax lifted his blade once more, and gave his howling assent. If there were Stormcast in the vicinity, he would slaughter them.
Mission: The Monolith
The band of Stormcast defend the statue of Sigmar amid their temple complex.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage - Intro
Introduction
After the Storm King's Thunder campaign ended last year[1], we were itching to restart our gaming sessions. In the greatest secrecy, Groin's player and I agreed on all the necessary details for him to take over DMing with another off-the-shelf adventure: the titular Dungeon of the Mad Mage. He studied the book, while I updated my old character and painted up a new mini for him. For maximum effect, we started the first new session with me still in charge. I wrapped up everything left over, including downtime activities, and managed to draw it out until everyone was present[2].
Into the Yawning Portal
I had the party reassemble at a random tavern in Waterdeep to reminisce about their adventures. An elf sat down at their table and greeted them as old friends, although none recognized him; and he proposed to take them to a dungeon with presumably many treasures inside, certainly interesting for a group of such famous adventurers. The party was suspicious, but only Szivem saw through the facade. Zyn (covered up by an illusion) was both glad to be recognized and unhappy to have his name spoken aloud, but agreed to take them to their destination[3]. They walked the streets of Waterdeep to another tavern: The Yawning Portal. And on the way, they suddenly noticed that Groin was no longer with them. At this point, I switched places with the actual DM of this adventure, and it was on!

March goals
I expected to paint a lot of Khorne daemons (and possibly mortals?) in February. I have completed a single unit. Yay. And started work on two more. Or is it four more? Anyway. Unfortunately, the selection of units available for Khorne in Warhammer 40k is still not very strong (to put it mildly), so my initial vision of getting lots of varied stuff ready to use in both 40k and Age of Sigmar quickly went down the drain.
Instead we have:
Announcing March, the month of completing stuff! I need to put the finishing touches on at least my Bloodthirster-stand-in, and the squad of 10 Bloodletters that I started retouching. It is also high time that I finished the skeletons I animate in D&D, perhaps even paint a few zombies for the same purpose. After that, I'll have to see to finishing my Path to Glory warband (unless it grows further in the meantime), as well as cobble something together for 40k.

(Re-)Painting Bloodcrushers
Introduction
I bought 3 assembled and painted (?) Bloodcrushers some time ago. They never made it out of their box, until the Path to Glory campaign hit, and I decided to revitalize my Khorne forces. The first "newly painted" unit to be completed, I decided on a standard red-brass color scheme for them.

Daemons of Khorne vs Space Wolves, 2020.02.29
Introduction
The Space Wolves deployed first, screening the Wolf Lord, Rune Priest and Aggressors with the 3 squads of Grey Hunters.
Daemons of Khorne vs Adepta Sororitas, 2020.02.29
Introduction
The sisters deployed first but made me go first, as I hid everything out of line of sight. Two squads of Battle Sisters screened for the Retributors and the Exorcist, huddled around Junith Eruita and her Canoness sidekick.
Daemons of Khorne vs Thousand Sons, 2020.02.29
Introduction
The Thousand Sons rocked Ahriman, two squads of Rubric Marines and a squad of Scarab Occult Terminators with both the Helfyre Missile Rack and the Soulreaper cannon. I deployed first, but I let them have the first turn due to minimal line of sight available, as well as wanting to counter the terminators arriving from reserves.
Warhammer 40k Escalation League 500 pts event
The first phase of the Escalation League came to an end with a small event - a 500 points tournament.
