Dungeon of the Mad Mage: Dwarven chambers

The party reunited in a hybrid fashion, with Selene and Ireth joining us through Skype. The DM surprised us with a level-up[1], and we descended to the 6th level of the dungeon[2] after plentiful smalltalk and stuffing ourselves with KFC-goodies.

First, we investigated an abandoned and thoroughly wrecked locker room. Tari found a holy symbol of Dumathoin, signaling what the rest of the dungeon had in store for us.

Next up, dwarven baths and dried out soap.

In the dwarven library, we found some treasure and lots of ruined books.

In the forge, we found some artisan's tools. Determined to waste some time, Szivem investigated the walls and put a broken barrel to the flame, while I gently stroked the hammers laid out for the long-gone blacksmith.

In the riding room (?), we found five wooden donkeys, just waiting to be burned to ash by an eager sorceress.

Finally, in the second library, we met four duergar. Solid opened the door by whacking it into the wall, at which the dwarves enlarged themselves and attacked, despite attempted diplomacy by the female party members. One Fireball and some other spells later, they were done.

Barely had we begun looting the corpses, when a Cloaker[3] fell over Szivem. Solid wrenched it off and we killed it dead.

Of course just as we finished the choker, a giant two-legged beetle assaulted us from behind. It began attacking Selene, and anybody who laid eyes on it was compelled to turn around and do nothing. Even worse for Tari, who was compelled to strike Selene in the face.[4]

After a couple of failed saves, we started passing some, and I successfully summoned a barlgura right behind it, soon felling the monster.

The libraries in the book revealed that the center of this level hides a temple of Dumathoin.

[1] Postponed to next session, but still a level-up.
[2] Still no 5th level spells, sadly.
[3] From now on referred to as a 'choker'.
[4] Sometimes, we'd happily do that without magical compulsion.
