Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay session 3

We started off by talking to Ilse, the roadwarden, who we met at Rudi's decoration ceremony. She invited us over at a beer at the Exploding Pig. Seems legit.

We bought some adventuring gear, as the starter characters turned out to be woefully underequipped, then headed to the tavern. Ilse was already awaiting, and told us about her potential mission.  It turns out there's a mass murderer called Maurer - among many other people, he killed Ilse's partner. He was already scheduled to be executed twice, but both failed due to deus ex type interventions, with the executioner's axe falling apart, and lightning striking the chopping block. This seemed like Chaos-related sorcery to me, so I readily agreed. Our potential reward was the termination of our forced conscription, so everybody got onboard.

Then we planned for about an hour on how to get Maurer to the garden of Morr to be executed. Obviously, the plan went to **** the moment we started our journey across the city.

The evil moon Morslieb was ascendent, and the city was flooded with greenish mist. Sound traveled strangely, and the road became more and more discomforting as we progressed. The river was covered in black goo, and skeletal fish swam in it. As we hurried across the bridge, the hanged men were clawing at their throats. Black goo reached up from the river, taking one of our Altdorf guardsmen. We almost buckled, but Salundra's leadership kept us in check. We ran across to the other side, where we were promptly assaulted by mutants, represented by the beastmen miniatures.

Our initial plan called for the elf to scout ahead, and he got knocked out immediately. I was the only one not surprised by the ambush, and I immediately fired my pistols, killing my own assailant.

Fortunately, the mutants failed to do any other damage, and we dispatched them with relative ease. One copper-skinned fellow sprayed his molten blood across Ferdinand and Salundra, but they held.

We rushed the ending a bit, as the store was closing, but combat took a very long while. This system is the most complex I've ever played, and fighting this many opponent was truly tedious.

So anyway, we got Maurer to the executioner, who instead turned on Ilse, killed her with an axe blow to the head, then both disappeared in pink mist.

Bummer.
