Painting Vindicare assassins (custom models)

Introduction

I bought two of these elf snipers (?) off eBay for a bargain. No idea what they are, but they are excellent Vindicare stand-ins.

Preparation

This is the model stripped and cleaned.

I cobbled together some bases using broken pieces of Sector Imperialis and putty. These should provide enough of an elevation to make the models just as big as the current Vindicare model.

Drill and pin the miniatures. Drill the bases. Make sure to dry fit.

For the final step, chop off the elven ears.

Painting the bases

I did this in parallel with the Eversor: paint the bases as cobblestone but just before the wash step, drybrush Chainmail Silver over the metalic parts.

Coat the grates Nazdreg Yellow, then weather them with Nihilakh Oxide.

Coat some boxes Militarum Green, and one Flesh Tearers Red (this was too dark, the green ones look a lot better).

Leave one bare of color, but introduce small streaks of Gore Grunta Fur as rust.

Painting the snipers

Paint the bodyglove/coat shiny black, then paint the weapons and gear dark metal. Paint the leather straps and bags on one guy - just for variety.

Goggle and sniper lenses Blood for the Blood God over Silver.

Initially I wanted to leave the face black, but it doesn't really make sense with the goggles pulled over the head. Medium skin works fine.

Glue them to their bases using superglue.

Finished!
