This session saw the return of Cahir after a couple of missed games, so we started off slow, with a long recap and some RP. This involved him looking around the latest dungeon rooms, catching Dalibor looting stuff, and the thief trying to hide the loot by making a pass at the paladin. Yes, this set the mood of the session. No, I will never let this go.
The adventurers returned to their camp to rest. Cahir bathed and cleaned his clothing and armor. Yes, in the nude. Yes, he might have caught a cold by dunking in the ice-cold sea.
They also ate conjured food and water, materialized from the damp, stinky surroundings. Very well described by me.
After some more RP, the party decided to head back to the secret door. It ended in a large trapped door. Cue at least 30 minutes of discussion on how to bypass it. In the end, Daramin just triggered it using telekinesis.
In the final chamber, they met the two headed king - a disturbing statue of a humanoid with a man-mouthed leech growing from its neck. Dalibor discovered a magic scroll in the base, which Daramin broke the seal but did not read aloud. Could be flammable, says Cahir's vision.
On the left of the statue, there was a door leading into a huge slide-like hole. While the party discussed what to do, Daramin proposed the idea that maybe the leech-thing is the main being and the human is the parasite, making Cahir puke. Then Cahir proposed the idea that a man should be able to guide his fate without divine intervention, making Ylimor sick. Then, while Dalibor discussed the possible opportunities presented by tight, dark holes after going down about 40m and not reaching the bottom, Cahir proposed that without fear there is no courage. At this point Ylimor saw an opportune moment to seed doubt in his mind and try to convert him to his religion. Unexpectedly, Cahir yelled YOLO[1] and jumped into the hole. Daramin jumped as well, trailing a fireball in his hand. Dalibor jumped after about 15 minutes. Ylimor decided to back away from this crap and went back to the camp for at least 4 hours.
So, let's move with the 3 party members going deeper.
Cahir and Daramin landed in soft sand. They explored their surroundings[2], then Dalibor arrived. They awaited for Ylimor a bit, but nothing came[3], and so on they went. They explored the dome in which they found themselves, and started into the next one through the one corridor they found. Cahir floundered, being surprised by a vision of being dragged under the sand. Next moment, a giant manta ray jumped out of the sound and impaled Dalibor on its barbed tail!
Fighting was fierce, but greatly encumbered by the sand whipped up by the creature. It threw Dalibor to focus on the knight, and got through the armor in one place, before Daramin started hacking at it with flaming swords. The creature jumped back under, leaving Cahir knocked out and Dalibor bleeding out.
Daramin ran back and forth, cauterizing wounds, using smelling salts, downing healing potions, and successfully saving the overall situation.
