My first commission strictly based on a model picture the client provided.
Preamble
This is the model picture. I had to take some liberties as the miniature does not conform 100%, but it's pretty close - HeroForge can do that.
Painting
Prime Grey Seer. I experimented with the skin tone, but everything else is just applied painting tips.
I base coated Dead Flesh, then washed Biel-Tan green. This provided the perfect light greenish tone.
I did the highlights in Pale Flesh (thanks Patrick for the idea!). Finally, I lined the shadows again with Biel-Tan Green for more contrast.
Note that I decided to take no Contrast-based shortcuts.
- Painting eyes then glaze over Lamenters Yellow for that feral look
- Medium leather
- Dark leather
- Cold white fur - soften the shadows by using diluted Basilicanum Grey
- Traditional metallic armor, but I used Agrax Earthshade on the armour plates for variation
- Shiny black hair and beard
- Bright flame to provide a point of interest on the miniature
- Dark wood
