Gemstones (red and green)

The idea is to go from a dark base color to a light spot on the lower end of the gemstone, then a white spot highlight in the upper half. This gives the illusion of a translucent surface.

Red

Basecoat Gory Red.

Wash Carroburg Crimson. This takes out much of the shine and tones down the color, so a different, deeper red would be better as a basecoat instead.

Go from Gory Red to Bloody Red, first doing crescent shapes on the lower part of the gem, down to a bent line for the final color.

Green

Exactly the same steps, but use Dark Green for base, Biel-Tan Green for wash, then progress from Dark Green to Sick Green. For smaller gems like this, leave out some of the steps.

White spot highlight

Just a little dot in the upper half. In the picture, it is barely visible, as I placed it in the exact spot where light reflects off the surface.
