Painting a female archer

Introduction

The moment I saw this Kickstarter, I knew I had to have some of those miniatures. I waited a while for it, but it was worth it. The first one to be painted is the female archer, to be used in our games of MAGUS.

Preparation

After the horrible experience with the gnome wizard mini where the staff arm kept breaking off (you can see that the final pose of the staff arm is different than the original one - I just couldn't glue it in place right), I decided on pinning this miniature.

Dry fit, trim the pins...

...then glue. The arms are in a perfect position to be pinned, so no green stuffing was needed.

Painting

Prime in black, then start painting - armed with the standard painting tips.

Black boots.

Medium and light leathers. Metal bracer, knife and buckles.

Bonewhite basecoat on the fur trims.

Skin

Light skintone - fitting for female models.

Eyes and fletching

Eyes per the painting tip. I initially wanted something fancy for the fletching, but the simple black-and-white looked so good that I just highlighted with white and left it like that.

Dark brown bow.

Blond hair

Basecoat Filthy Brown. Wash Agrax Earthshade.

Drybrush Filthy Brown.

Drybrush 1:1 Filthy Brown and Bonewhite, then just Bonewhite on the tips.

Glaze Lamenter's Yellow.

Finishing touches

The furs were washed Reikland at the skin painting step. Highlight with Bonewhite.

Color the stitching in the clothes with Khaki.

Basecoat the hair tie with Gory Red. Then highlight Bloody Red.

Basing

Create a small hillock using home made putty.

Woodland base.

Finished!
