Dungeon of the Mad Mage: A shocking surprise

We started where we left off - I was recreating the summoning circle, with the rest of the party waiting in the now inanimate kitchen. The moment I drew the last rune, a man appeared in the circle - he was levitating, black cloak billowing.[1]

He shouted and attacked me with Magic Missile - Shield to the rescue! We killed him and he disappeared. Well, at least his body disappeared... we got his cloak, his spellbook[2], and a lot of of empty books. I then recreated the circle 10 more times to assuage any curious party members... but nothing else happened.

We backtracked to where the dungeon branched off and advanced into the laboratory of a mad scientist. Butchered corpses all around showing signs of experimentation. Selene was unhappy with the smell, so she burned the air... and damaged my zombies due to the methane buildup in the air. Yay. We also found the beginning of a journal, looks like Halaster had many apprentices, not all of them sane.

Next room: same laboratory, only with barrels all around. Some of them hid ghouls, which we killed; others had copper chunks in them, which we took.

A hammock hid another page of the journal, stating that the next room hides a shocking surprise. Whatever... but it was true, as the two zombies who opened the next door got an electrical discharge to the face.

The next room was large with a copper floor. A Flesh Golem and a flying electrified head greeted us with a Lightning spell, killing my minions.[3] We set to work and killed them off, even with the golem being healed by slight discharges from the electrified floor. We managed to do it all at range, and with the head dead, the electric show ended.

With another intersection ahead and time running late, we chose the natural caverns instead of the corridors. Okos went in first, exiting into a large hall with a patrolling... thing. An amalgamation of flesh, limbs, mouths, eyes. It got aggressive and we killed it.

Yes, we did a lot of killing.

[1] ... and his flagpole was raised. Queue a lot of subtle jokes, due to the child in the room.
[2] Cha-ching!
[3] Next time, I'll remember to Counterspell.
