Painting zombies (Contrast)

Introduction

More Contrast undead! This is where I started experimenting again, by doing pre-shading. As I don't have an airbrush, this was unavailable for me, but transparent glazes such as Contrast might make it happen.

Pre-shade

Prime black. Then spray from above (around 30-45 degrees angle) with Wraithbone. It is not perfect, although I learned a lot. Looks like there is a sweet spot to be had in between too light a spray and this overspray which I managed to do. Barely some darkening in the spots below.

Contrast!

Darkoath Flesh.

Go back with Wraithbone and basecoat some small details, such as the eyes, which then got Blood Angels Red.

And the bones, which got Skeleton Horde. Not nearly enough difference here.

I then did the clothes in 3 different colors, just to see how they work: Volupus Pink, Apothecary White, Militarum Green.

Wash the exposed bones and guts in Carroburg Crimson. Still not enough separation.

Do the hair Basilicanum Grey.

Wash the cloth Agrax Earthshade to darken down and make it look dirty.

Finally apply an overall zombifying wash. Left is Athonian Camoshade (darker, more grimdark), right is Plaguebearer Flesh (more of a yellow tone, slimy, cartoony). I like both of them.

Spray varnish, then apply Nurgle's Rot to the exposed guts.

Finished!
