Dungeon of the Mad Mage: At least we beat a bulette

Disclaimer: due to some food delivery mishap, we started playing very late and did very little.

Once we got to play, we hurried up into a dungeon room to explore. It was filled with broken statue fragments. We looked around to no avail. As we sat for 10 minutes for the paladin to summon his steed, I also did Detect Magic, which revealed an illusory wall. Behind it, some hidden alcoves. We smashed  the glass sealing them and retrieved 4 pieces of a staff. I mended them, getting two bigger pieces and something missing in between.

Tari also discovered a hidden door, which we opened to find a stone sarcophagus with bones floating above. Ireth was the first to investigate, but passed her saving throw. I wanted to see what is up with the bones, so I touched them, failing my save and becoming sort-of possessed. The/my voice said the following things:

  • in the heart of the mountain behind the basalt door, you will find greatness[1]
  • when you enter a room, yell XUNDERBROK and maybe you will be rewarded[2]
  • demons invaded our temple but we trapped them in statues

Alright, who cares. Selene tried to wake me up by inserting a staff into my rectum. Solid tried to pull me away, which finally did the trick.

Next up, queue a trap door for Solid and my one remaining zombie to fall into. Lots of falling damage, I rescued them with the Broom of Flying.

Finally, a big room with statues of dwarves and a tapestry depicting Melair and his personal guard fighting a bulette. Below the tapestry, some stones were disturbed. Of course, we took a look as well. As we picked up the stones, an undead bulette jumped out, throwing us on our backs. Well, tough luck. We killed it before it had a chance to act.

[1] I'd prefer treasure, to be honest.
[2] Selene now yells this upon entering every room.
