Painting a Slaughterpriest with Hackblade and Wrath-hammer (dark skintone)

Introduction

My second Slaughterpriest, who will probably get to cast Bronzed Flesh all the time. Excuse the pun.

Prime

In black, in preparation for his darker tones.

Start with the messy part...

Dark earth, because it involves copious drybrushing.

Dark fleshtone

I wanted to try out something less bright.

Basecoat with a 2:1 mix of Dark Fleshtone and Black. Broad highlights with Dark Fleshtone.

Then mix with Tan for two successive layers of highlights. First 2:1, then 1:1.

Wash Agrax Earthshade.

Rusted weapons

This is normally Nurgle territory, but I envisioned these guys not taking care of their gear that much, so here goes an experiment.

Basecoat Gunmetal, cover in diluted Gore Grunta Fur. Then again, about 2/3 down.

Mix Gore Grunta Fur with Orange Fire and paint the bottom half.

Add water to Orange Fire and wash around the details - pockmarks, handle etc.

Wash it all in Fuegan Orange.

Do some scratches and lines in Orange Fire.

Highlight them with Heavy Goldbrown (diluted).

Scratch on some Gunmetal. This is where the rust flaked off due to heavy use.

Other details

Black boots. Wash the fangs and horns Nazdreg Yellow.

Glue on the subassembly

The front loincloth, painted separately.

Skin decorations

Superhighlight the stretched skin in Pale Flesh.

Stitches in Wraithbone.

Do all the horns jutting from the skin, and all the silver widgets.

Shiny details after spray varnish

Blood for the Blood God! on the weapons. Gory Red spatter using a toothbrush.

Finished!
