With the base and model painted separately, and the LED work done in interwoven steps, I could finally finish this model.
Solder the ends of the wires. Wrap them in duct tape. Reinforce with superglue.
Scrape away the paint where the feet go. Put a drop of superglue on each foot, then press into place. Hold the model in place until the glue solidifies.
The wires are visible underneath, but with all the techno-doodads... eh...
Hide the scraped surfaces with a drop of Stirland Mud.
Paint over with Basilicanum Grey to hide the brown spots, then paint the skull.
