Painting a Lord Discordant

After the Venomcrawler, comes its master. The LED work in the model and base is kind of similar, but I painted them up separately.

Preparation and subassemblies

Magnetization and some LED work before starting here.

I decided on leaving many subassemblies for ease of painting and handling.

Rider and backpack separately. Magnetized guns stick to metal disks. Tail for easier handling. Exhaust ports so that I can paint the brain-thingy underneath.

Painting

Word Bearers armor. Then finish up some subassemblies using Contrast: Nazdreg Yellow on any brass details such as exhaust, spikes, decorative skulls. Black Templar on the ammo feed. Snakebite Leather on the autocannon shells to make them look bronze.

Then apply some painting tips:

• green glow on the flamer, as well as some doodads and the central brain-like piece on the bug
• warm white cloth
• bone
• light leather
• medium leather
• wood
• eye (on the backpack)
• skin on the horrible bug mouth
• red banner

Finish off with the finicky details:

• legion icon of the Word Bearers
  
• chapter icon of the Serrated Sun (on the banner because one shoulderpad is covered)
  
• armor script

Spray varnish all the components, then assemble the model.
