Painting Gandalf the Grey

This Gandalf had a broken staff, and I pinned and glued it, only later realizing that I fixed it upright, and it should have been slanted. Oh well.

Painting 

Prime Grey Seer. 

Now, according to the screenshots from the movies, Gandalf does dress in all grey, but his different layers are of different shades. So I tried to replicate that. Start with an overall coat of Basilicanum Grey.

Then cover the hat Gryph Charger Grey for a blueish tinge; the overcoat with Ratling Grime to introduce some browns; and the inner robe with Soulblight Grey for neutral tones.

Highlight all 3 areas using Cold Gey, then Stonewall Grey.

Then paint up to:

• dark leather boots
• metallic sword
• Dark wood staff
• Medium skintone
• eyes
• Light leather belt
• Cold white hair and beard

Basing

Woodland base.
