Painting more pulp heroines for Call of Cthulhu

Another batch of early 20th century investigators.

Painting

Prime Wraithbone. There are some common elements across all of them:

For the first lady, I tried to aim for a bonus to Spanish language and/or culture.

Then more experiments. I went for blues, as I rarely paint this color.

Blue skirt on this armed librarian. Base coat Night Blue mixed with Magic Blue. Broad highlights Magic Blue.

Add Electric Blue to Magic Blue for highlights, then even more Electric Blue for superhighlights. Deepen the shadows with Drakenhof Nightshade.

Refreshing to paint with regular paints, but I'm not too impressed with the result.

Finish off the rest of the details.

Finally, a light bluish turqoise whatever coat and hat on this policewoman looking mini. Basecoat Frostheart.

Then, 1:1 diluted Talassar Blue.

Any trim (in our case, the cuffs, the scarf and the band around the hat) are coated Coelia Greenshade.

Then everything is coated in Tyran Blue.

It looked good, but the highlights didn't cut it for me. Grey Seer on the cuffs works well, but Temple Guard Blue, then Baharroth Blue (or at least my Vallejo mix equivalents) were too greenish.

Finish her off with the rest of the details.

The next two are basically nun colored, but I had fun painting them anyway.

The fresh blood on the apron is just Gory Red, while the dried blood on the bandages is a gradient of Gory Red mixed with Black.

The vault dweller mini (hehe) got a blue cloth experiment, which I'm on the fence about, as it involves a LOT of steps. This is the same as the athlete's shorts.

The waitress has a burgundy dress which I wasn't very impressed with as it just looks red.

Start with Sigvald Burgundy.

Coat Volupus Pink.

Highlight Gory Red.

At least the flaming cocktail was interesting to paint, by basecoating Bad Moon Yellow, then while still wet, first painting Striking Scorpion, then Terradon Turqoise on it. With the flame so small, I did not have to smooth out any transitions, but I suppose the original yellow would have been fine for that.

More leather experiments, I may have finally found a way to highlight Gore Grunta Fur in a pleasing way. Orange leather for the arctic explorers.

And red leather on the pilot. This one was looking really good until the highlights, which are off.

Basecoat Gore Grunta Fur.

Coat Flesh Tearers Red.

Coat Reikland Fleshshade.

Highlight Heavy Orange.

Tried for a different red tone on this dress, but it isn't distinct enough.

Basecoat Flesh Tearers Red.

Coat Druchii Violet. Highlight Gory Red.

Superhighlight Heavy Skintone.

Finally, a two tone green outfit.

Basecoat Creed Camo or Aeldari Emerald.

Coat both Militarum Green.

I did highlights with a mix of Dead Flesh and Sick Green - unsure about it.

Basing

Most have the rough concrete style base I came up with earlier, but the athlete runs on grass and the arctic explorers walk on snow. There's also simple Dry cracked earth.

Finished!
