Storm King's part 27 - Release the Kraken

Finally with Szivem pregnant[1] we reach the great city of Yartar[2] again to find our friend White Face.

The pirate had returned from his wanderings and he can’t refuse us the favor[3]. So he takes us to those Northern Islands after telling us that we are mad to venture into such waters. We hunt some walrus and seals to get us food and maybe some warm clothes while venturing such cold weather.[4]

Szivem refuses to stay by the fire and she spends her days and nights outside in cold weather just to lose the child (it seems the young one is not ready to have a baby). After a few days the deed is done, now she will spend the rest of the trip feeling bad about herself or at least having mixed feelings.[5]

As we reach our destination the surprise is that the islands are no more than some rocks in the water and there is no King to be found here. Someone remembers that we are not looking for the islands but for a ship that is nearby (a DM who pays attention is always useful)[6].

With this useful information it is just a matter of time until we see the ship we are looking for and decide to engage it.

Fireballs are cast, demons are summoned and a great battle begins…[7] While Tari is spreading arrows all over the place and Szivem is trying to burn the ship down[8], Selene and Groin teleport inside the enemy ship[9] where they find a mighty giant all tied up with magical manacles. Dispel was used, weapons were broken and in the end the great King awakened from his magical sleep.

It is not hard to convince him that we are his allies[10] but it is harder to escape from the ship. From the darkness of the sea a Kraken is awakened and starts tearing the ship apart.[11]

This is no time for bravery so we use the conch to teleport back to Hekaton’s palace...[12]

[1] Hue hue hue.
[2] Luskan. Yartar is situated inland, for gods' sake.
[3] Due to the Pirate Code or something along those lines.
[4] Because you obviously forgot to buy any before taking to sea.
[5] As the life cleric would not perform an abortion. OK then, you bleed all night and are done. Roll a wisdom save for psychological effects... Natural 20. Alright then. "Easy come, easy go."
[6] I swear to keep notes of my own if I ever get to play again.
[7] Surprisingly, that is exactly what happened.
[8] Actually both ships, if I remember correctly.
[9] After first teleporting into its walls for some force damage, of course.
[10] I wouldn't exactly say that. He awakened with a fury and started bashing you with his broken chains, remember?
[11] And nobody had anything to say or ask about that. I guess it is a common occurrence.
[12] I could have swore that they would at least try to fight the Kraken. I would have enjoyed that. Heh heh heh.
