The adventures of Legorlas Green Leaf: BUUUURN

We awakened after the last combat with two less players. We barricaded the room for a long rest, with the elves taking turns standing watch. We had some strange occurrences, with the shadows moving wave-like into the direction we were heading, and Avil dreamt of being a human wizard consecrated to be the defender of this place in ancient times. With no follow-up, we went on our merry way.[1] More visions on the way of this guy who was supposed to guard the Spellforge. What an incompetent looser!

So we spotted some fancy lights up ahead and Merril scouted a small thrashed room with a floating crystal shooting lightning and whatnot all around it. Rana looked at the writings on the walls and concluded that it's a magical prison. So if it's the guy in the visions, he's supposed to be on the good side. So it's a good idea to free him. Right guys? So anyway, we started blasting.

All the while Merril was somersaulting all over the room, evading lightning strikes like a boss and looting random stuff, including diamons, a health potion (?), a scroll and a staff.

In the meantime the melee squad reached the crystal and smashed it to pieces, releasing a floating, burning skull. And guess what. It attacked us. what a shocker.

But just the size of a regular human skull. Not this monstrosity the DM decided to use.

So we continued blasting, but the skull wasn't playing fair. It absorbed Rana's firebolt and spat out a fireball at us instead. It also cracked each time it got hit, and the flames jumping off animated to attack.

"Face me, if you dare!" Forn decided to hold it off with a Compelled Duel, but the animated flames proved to be very resistant, and could not easily be killed off. Not to mention they multiplied like crazy.

So we're back to plan A, trying to hit the floating, blurred skull, and resisting its flaming minions. Bear attacks proved ineffective, so I healed instead, and shaped into a giant toad. Unfortunately, I could not bite the skull mid-jump.

We focused our attacks, and the skull soon blew apart. Literally, in another fireball. I was the only man/frog standing. So I jumped out, and healed the paladin. While the minions reeled, I also healed the wizard. Then I got ganged up on.

Crawling around and pretending to be dead was pretty humiliating for the party, until I got laid hands on, and then it was back to whack-a-mole.

Rana made Forn drink Merril's bootleg health potion, which healed him up, but also transformed him into a woman. (?!)

At this point I made sure both of the more resistant party members were up, before I ran out of spell slots. Avil remembered her greatsword is magical, and cleaved through the minions in no time. Forn abandoned his mundane hammer and hit them with his magic lute instead. I sprayed one with water from my waterskin, evaporating it.

In the end, we successfully mopped  them up, and everybody was either alive or stable.

A great victory for the forces of good, thanks to the competent healing of Legorlas! No foul necromancy shall remain standing where I pass.

[1] After I scrawled on the wall, "Legorlas was here and he is going to kill every filthy necromancer"
