Painting D&D black panther and black bear

Trying to perfect my painting of black, here's two D&D board game pieces as a black panther and black bear.

Painting

Follow this painting tip. The panther only has flat areas, while the bear is mostly fur and just a bit of flat on the face and paws.

Other common areas:

  • I undercoated the inside of the mouth Heavy Red, then went over with Warlord Pink. Otherwise there would have been 10 layers to cover over black.
  • Coat the claws and fangs Bonewhite. Wash Agrax Earthshade. Highlight Bonewhite.

Coat the snout of the bear Khaki. Wash Agrax Earthshade. Highlight Khaki, then Bonewhite.

Bears have entirely black eyes. I tried to give some differentiation by coating the eyes Dead White, then Black Templar, but it is barely visible.

Predators generally have yellow eyes, so paint eyes and go over with Lamenter's Yellow.

Basing

Woodland base.

Finished!
