Painting D&D displacer beasts

These miniatures are nice but terribly small. The WizKids variant is much better proportioned.

Preparation

As 'large' creatures, they go on 50mm bases. They are small-ish but very lean and long and would barely fit in length. So I mounted them on cork cliffs. The cats have small nubs on their feet, so mark the corks and drill with a 2mm head. Superglue them in.

Then glue the cork to the base. Spray black to avoid any hydrophobic surfaces.

Painting

Follow this painting tip - flat surfaces only. For the rest of the surfaces:

  • I undercoated the inside of the mouth Heavy Red, then went over with Warlord Pink. Otherwise there would have been 10 layers to cover over black.
  • Coat the fangs Bonewhite. Wash Agrax Earthshade. Highlight Bonewhite.
  • Paint the feelers medium skintone
  • Paint eyes with no pupils and go over with Lamenter's Yellow.

Basing

Woodland base.

Finished!
