Chaos Space Marines vs Imperial Knights, 01.04.2025

A 1000 points game of Purge the Foe. No detachments. No stratagems. No secondaries. Just a pure murder tutorial for a new player.

I grabbed my list from last time I played in 1000 points, and the Knights put down a Crusader and 4 Armigers.

Based on my experience with Knights, I hid everything - to show the importance of terrain, and to make the game last more than 2 turns.

Battle round 1

I advanced everything up behind some ruins and corners. Tutorial on line of sight, range etc.

Battle round 2

Fire a few shots, run out both Possessed squads and charge some Armigers. Killed nothing, but we saw charge moves, attacks and wounds, devastating wounds, multiple damage, degrading profile etc. The knights in turn fought back, shot at my bikers, stuff.

Battle round 3

With the Possessed and Warglaives doing mutual self destruction (to my great surprise, the furries were supposed to die), I sat on the objectives and ran out the Chosen. Last time I went to close combat with a big knight, they died in two turns. Well this time, the dice said: nope. All the 6's in the world. The Crusader retreated with 5 wounds, shot, charged back, and died.

The battle wound down after that, with some units cleaned up, scoring explained, etc. I won, against all odds and intents, by some points. We had a short discussion on tactics, with some bystanders chiming in, and generally had a good time.
