Free Folk vs Lannisters, 22.04.2025

One last training game before a local tournament, I built a killier list - or so I envisioned. We actually did pull the kill scenario, so I picked the eagles instead of the bears, and placed them on the two heavily armoured units. The Lannisters came with their usual token shenanigans, so I decided to stall as much as wildlingly possible.

Deployment: two refused flanks.

For 3 rounds, we danced around, repositioned and postured, rearranging the battle lines up the right side instead of our table edges.

Pycelle and Varys expended their tokens, and I consequently healed up all the damage.

Everything was looking cool until turn 3, when the crossbowmen finally moved in to shoot. I responded with a 3+ charge which I obviously failed.

That was among the final moves of round 3, and I started round 4 by charging in the Cave Dwellers. They failed miserably at killing the Crossbowmen. Tywin activated and badly mauled my Spearwives, by killing and panicking the back squad, and turning off all abilities of the front squad. Nasty.

After a round of shooting into the Cave Dwellers, the Brigands swept in and killed them. With the marks and extra VPs assigned, this was a 6 point kill.

The Thenns were holding down the Warrior Sons, but the Brigands started the round, wiped the Spearwives and overrun into the second squad, also wiping them. I immediately surrendered.

The one thing to learn is that every other Skinchanger option except the bears are crap. I never rolled any 6s into the eagle'd targets. Whereas a couple of bears blocking the flanks would have been very useful.
