Repainting Sir Percival from the Shadows over Camelot boardgame

Before

A bland figure in full suit of metallic armor and white coat.

After

Repainting the armor

Highlight the scarf

Originally painted in a blue/green color mix, I decided not to repaint, just highlight (and cover up any mistakes with the highlights).

First with Turqoise.

Then Jade Green.

Fix the leather parts

Just the belt and the dagger.

Basecoat in Heavy Brown. I then did a second coat of Dark Fleshtone on the dagger holster, just for variation.

Wash in Agrax Earthshade, then highlight with Heavy Brown.

Silver sword

The mini already has enough blue on it, so I did not went the usual Guilliman Blue route.

Just basecoat Chainmail Silver.

Black wash.

Highlight the edges in Chainmail Silver.

Cloak

Follow the scheme as laid out in the red cloth painting tip, but with different colors.

Basecoat Ghost Grey.

Feather the recesses in Wolf Grey.

Highlight the top of the folds in white.

Face and eyes

Hair

Heavy Brown basecoat, black wash, then highlight the strands of hair with Heavy Brown using the finest detail brush.

Base

I wanted to duplicate the Rugged wasteland base. Alas, as Sir Percival stands on larger rocks (after some sculpting), I had to alter the method a bit.

The first couple of steps are the same. Basecoat reddish brown (Dark Fleshtone here).

Heavy Brown drybrush.

Black wash in recesses.

Overall wash in Agrax Earthshade.

Heavy Brown edge highlights.

However, I wasn't happy with how it looked at this stage. With the bigger rocks, I opted for thicker lines for the edge highlight, and the contrast was too stark. So I washed again in Agrax Earthshade to blend the colors.

And then continue as originally intended, but duplicate the brown edge highlight, this time with finer lines.

Finish off with the Bonewhite superhighlights.
