Ultramarines, turn 1
Some shuffling around for better turtling, and long range shooting into the Plaguebearers.
Chaos, turn 1
Reinforcements land behind the Stormraven.
The lines advance. Smite kills an Aggressor.
Plasma fire downs the Stormraven. I also killed 1 Centurion, which in return killed a Terminator.
Plaguebearers launch forward by assaulting the Scouts. No casualties inflicted.
Ultramarines, turn 2
I thought that by taking out the Stormraven, I would severely cripple the enemy's firepower. I was wrong.
The Centurions shuffled around, to get in rapid fire range with their Hurricane Bolters. The Aggressors turned to face the Plaguebearers. And then they opened fire.
1 Plaguebearer managed to stay alive, in order to protect the Daemon Princes. I left the icon bearer, hoping for that lucky 1 (even rerolled the morale check), but it wasn't meant to happen. The Terminators also died to a man.
Chaos, turn 2
With both screening units gone, I called in the Bloodletters. Unfortunately, this time I could not avoid the Auspex Scan.
And a good number did die.
Then more died to overwatch as I tried a multicharge to tie down and kill as many units as possible. The worst of all was the failure of the Daemon Princes. All 3 charged Guilliman, but none of them got in. At least the combined efforts of the Bloodletters and Be'lakor killed both squads of Aggressors.
Ultramarines, turn 3
The Centurios fell back and killed Be'lakor and the Bloodletters.
Chaos, turn 3
This time, the Daemon Princes did get the charge - and left Guilliman standing with 1 wound. he then proceeded to kill both of them.
Turn 4
A last ditch effort by the Sorcerer, summoning a screen of Brimstones was shot down by the Centurions.
Turns 5-7
The remaining Ultramarine models (Guilliman, 4 Centurions, Tigurius and the Apothecary) then proceeded to spread out all over the map, shoot down my backfield Brimstones, and take all objectives. With all the turtling in the first turns, I may have won by points if the game ended after turn 5. Alas, the game went on to turn 7, and I just avoided tabling by having the Nurglings tucked away in a ruin where they weren't visible. Defeat 6 - 14.
