Documenting the winding journey from beginning wargaming and PnP RPG-s, through low budget solutions, to a growing collection of painted miniatures and a veritable chronicle of games and campaigns.

Painting an Astra Militarum Chimera
Introduction
I magnetized and electrified this Chimera - time to paint it. I researched painting black, and came away with the decision of NOT doing fine grey edge highlighting on this blocky vehicle. Instead, I decided on applying the highlights as weathering. Time to redo this old painting tip.

New LED lightbox
I bought a new lightbox from GreenStuffWorld. It's amazing for small miniatures.
Too bad big stuff don't fit the frame. For monsters, vehicles and large squads I'll still use my two-lamp setup.

Magnetized pintle mount
This is technically the pintle mount from a Chimera, but I am using it on a Leman Russ, as the battle tank kit does not come with its own. I will have a magnetized crew member firing the weapon for the Chimera; but the Russ might need a tank commander AND a pintle mount, so that will not fly here. Using this tutorial though slightly modified.

Legion of the First Prince vs Beasts of Chaos, 2022.02.20
Introduction
I'm hoping to catch next month's local Age of Sigmar tournament, so here's a practice game with 2000 points of Legion of the First Prince (taking only battleline this time along with the 3 big monsters) versus the new Beasts of Chaos using White Dwarf rules.
Deployment in... the Veins of Ghur
53 models on my side... and I'm still vastly outnumbered. I don't know how to feel about that...

Painting a Cosmo Serpent
Introduction
The same random trip where I got the baby dragon I also bought this Cosmo Serpent from the Wizkids/MtG crossover line.
Painting a blue dragon wyrmling red
Introduction
During the summer, we took a random stop in the game store to show my daughter where she'd go play when she grows a bit. I introduced her to plastic crack by letting her choose the main color on this baby dragon I bought. So the miniature is officially called "blue dragon wyrmling" by WizKids. Well, it's going to be red.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage: Giant dwarves and the story of Melair
Online again, due to COVID. We also had reduced numbers, with only Tari, Selene and myself present. Our kind DM gave us directions where to go to for easier encounters. Or did he?

Painting a Skullcannon/Blood Throne of Khorne
Introduction
I bought this guy a long time ago, and quickly magnetized it. But not just the throne and the cannon - I initially magnetized the Bloodletter crew and their stand. Only when trying to fit it into place did I realize that magnet polarities actually make this impossible. I shelved the whole project, and used the model unpainted as just a Skullcannon.
I picked it up now as I saw some speed painting techniques to be used. These are always enjoyable to do, and I needed a morale boost after COVID. I scooped the magnets out of the Bloodletter stand and glued them on, then proceeded with painting in subassemblies.

Painting Confessor Kyrinov
Introduction
The final miniature of the "classic" line that I purchased: Confessor Kyrinov, to be used as a priest/missionary as needed. Out of any fancy ideas, I decided to mimic his original paint scheme.
Note that I dropped him during painting, resulting in the top spike of his mace breaking off.

January review and February goals
You know you had a busy month when the monthly review is off by two days.
At least I had two D&D sessions and two games of Warhammer. That's about all the good I can say about January.
Nope, no painted Be'lakor as of yet.
Painting a nun with thunder hammer
Introduction
I got this miniature for free as an add-on for an order on Reaper Miniatures. In fact I had a choice to make, but I instantly saw an inquisitor with thunder hammer accompanying my nun army.
Later edit: I couldn't come up with a fitting name only after I took the pictures. I named her Soeur Clotilde after this gem.
