Free Folk vs Lannisters, 22.04.2025

One last training game before a local tournament, I built a killier list - or so I envisioned. We actually did pull the kill scenario, so I picked the eagles instead of the bears, and placed them on the two heavily armoured units. The Lannisters came with their usual token shenanigans, so I decided to stall as much as wildlingly possible.

Deployment: two refused flanks.

Free Folk vs Lannisters, 17.04.2025

My first game of season 6, with lots of attachments. I wanted to try out a "zoo" build with Varamyr, two skinchangers and Borroq in a favorable setup - A Game of Thrones, with 5 objectives. I stalled for the first two rounds, getting all my crap into position. We scored equal points.

Painting Spanish Inquisition (in 40k)

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Now on Necromunda bases, to better blend into the 42nd millenium.

Painting pulp heroines for Call of Cthulhu

We stopped playing, but I did lobby with the GM for painted miniatures with a granted bonus in the future. So here's the first batch of painted 3d printed heroines from the early 20th century.

Astra Militarum vs Imperial Knights, 15.04.2025

Time to up the game to 2000 points after our last match. I brought the Guard this time, focusing on the tank detachment. Yes, I know this is played with as many Russes and Dorns you can cram into 2k points. Yes, this is all I have. No, I won't buy any more for the time being. Yes, I did fill out the points with shitty tanks, like Hydras, Hellhounds and Basilisks. No, I did not list tailor. Yes, I brought chem cannons. Deal with it.

We played Purge the Foe and set up in our triangles.

Creating and painting smoke markers for the Astra Militarum Siege Regiment

3 smoke markers, as per the current ruleset and Strike Force games.

Painting stone golems

Ancient miniatures unboxed and painted for the Dungeon. These Mantic golems are originally shown with molten/glowing effects and a lot more metals bolted on - but I just needed stone golems.

Painting sniper nuns as Ratlings (with battlemutt)

Still working on new units for my Imperial Guard: for now, it's a full squad of Ratlings. Represented by nuns, obviously. And if I want to split them up, I already have two snipers painted.

Chaos Daemons vs Necrons, 29.03.2025

A second game with Shadow Legion, just after the one against the Custodes. This time against a beginner player, so no tournament-level shenanigans (except some misunderstood rules). Just some beautifully painted mossy necrons and the most vanilla Take and Hold mission.

Painting Gibbering Mouthers

More simple D&D miniatures. I wanted more oozes for the Dungeon, but these are actually fleshy amalgamations. Also not that simple to paint, with all the eyes and mouths. At least they are disturbing, or as somebody put it: 'Now that's a Monday morning team huddle on Teams if I ever saw one'

Painting a 3d printed Predator autocannon turret

I created my Predator a while ago, but the lascannon turret sucks, and it didn't see much play. Here's the update with an autocannon!

Painting spider swarms

Simple D&D miniatures. Also creepy.

Chaos Space Marines vs Imperial Knights, 01.04.2025

A 1000 points game of Purge the Foe. No detachments. No stratagems. No secondaries. Just a pure murder tutorial for a new player.

I grabbed my list from last time I played in 1000 points, and the Knights put down a Crusader and 4 Armigers.

Chaos Daemons vs Adeptus Custodes, 29.03.2025

I really, really wanted to play a new Astra Militarum detachment, but I just couldn't finish anything in time. So I dug out my old demons instead. I probably don't have anything 2000 points ready, but with Shadow Legion, you can mix in Chaos Marines, so this works. I slapped together a list, and went up against the Lions of the Emperor, all tournament ready. You can guess how this went down.

Anyway, I was overexcited and forgot take pictures at the beginning. The Custodes had first turn and spread out. Nothing could shoot me within Be'lakor's aura. On my turn, I rushed out my Bloodthirster and splatted a Telemon. I had some units Marked for Death, so I ran out my Flesh Hounds in the middle, and landed another unit previously put into reserves to screen everything out. I cleared out a unit of Sisters of Silence. All good.

Painting Tully Cavaliers and the Blackfish

The final big commission of Q1, two boxes of Tully Cavaliers and their Blackfish character on mount. Also two more Blackfish variants for basing. I was tasked with a unified color and base scheme with the Tully Sworn Shields

March review and April goals

March went by, and it was loaded.

Gaming becomes ever more varied. Warhammer 40k is a mainstay, but I just couldn't put out any more new stuff for the Guard in time, so I dusted off my Daemons to try out the Shadow Legion. ASOIAF is also an occasional treat, although the Giants will not see the table again for some time. The Dungeon progresses slowly, and Golden Vault is still hanging. But I got my Kickstarter for Monty Python's Cocurricular Mediaeval Reenactment Programme and we tried it out - it's hilarious.

Hobbying was dominated by painting nuns. Another ASOIAF commission is also done - that's it until May or so. And a little dip into simple(r) D&D minis to be used in the Dungeon. And some investigators for Call of Cthulhu.

Next up, is pretty much the same. More nuns. More Escher Kasrkin. More D&D minis. Maybe some simple D&D commissions. Fortunate Sons still playing in the background.
