Fixing up frost giants

Two frost giants I bought second hand, painted. Pretty well, actually; just needed some minor fixing up.

Frost giant

Original state. Not much to do here, as he is well painted and I really liked the giant base.

However, I did want to push the highlights on the skin and leathers. Highlight the skin with a mix of Sombre Grey and Wolf Grey, then pure Wolf Grey. Highlight the leathers using various browns.

Frost giantess

Original state; sort of. I already started painting her white primed base as Rugged wasteland base in preparation for Snowy base.

Not really noticeable in the first picture with the desk lamp fully on her, but the metals were lacking shine. I washed all silvers in Nuln Oil and highlighted everything as Traditional metal and Shiny gold.

I really liked the hair; the cloak is... weird but okay; face is fine. However, the skin lacked my favored sharp highlights, just as the male giant.

Finally, on to something interesting: experiment with glowing blue runes on her spearhead. Start by diluted white with water and glaze medium, and fill in the runes. Also slop around.

Coat everything Guilliman Blue.

Around every rune, draw a thick edge of diluted Magic Blue.

Highlight the literal edges of the depressions Electric Blue.

Overall satisfied with the result, but it would look better if the runes were farther apart.

Finished!
