Painting Gravestorm, the Dracolich

The first of my dragons to be painted this year is this old mini from the Castle Ravenloft boardgame as an adult dracolich.

Painting

Prime Wraithbone.

Paint the wing membrane with a slightly (2:1) diluted Agrax Earthshade.

Paint around 2/3 Targor Rageshade. Feather out the transition.

Paint 1/3 Druchii Violet. Feather out the transition.

Add some Reikland Fleshshade around the purple transition point,  feather out in both directions.

Paint the Bones.

Intermission: basing

Glue the mini on a 100mm magnetized base. Add cork pieces around the rim. Add some giant skulls and a puddle of maggots. Fill out using terrain paste.

Prime the skulls by hand, then paint the base as  Simplified wasteland base and Bone. Before the final Bonewhite highlight, paint the maggots Volupus Pink. Drybrush everything Bonewhite. Coat the maggots Carroburg Crimson.

Painting continued

Drybrush everything 2:1 Off White + Stonewall Grey.

Paint the rotten skin Black Legion.

Drybrush the skin first with a mix of Khaki and Black, then Stonewall Grey.
