Painting a Tyranid girl

Don't judge me, it's a gift.

Inspiration

I broadly followed this Tyranid paint scheme. The pictures are of, erm, lower quality; but greenish black carapace, dark red skin, fleshy stuff.

Painting

I have this for dark blackish green (greenish black?), but I wanted to experiment with something Contrast-based to ease the work. I tried Black Legion over Dark Angels Green and vice-versa. The black cover it completely, so vice-versa it is.

Paint all the carapace Black Legion, then Dark Angels Green. Paint the joints, hair and... gills? Guilliman Flesh.

Dark red skin Contrast phase. Also go over the fleshy bits with the Carroburg Crimson. 

When highlighting the red with Heavy Skintone, also do the hair and gills. Then, it's on to the black. First, a thick edge highlight of Dark Green. Then smaller edging with Sick Green. Finally, spot highlights Scorpy Green.

Finally, paint the eyes white, and coat the irises Frostheart.
