Painting an eldritch horror

Introduction

Beginning the Cthulhu-esque part of the commission, first in the line is this guy from Reaper.

Original state

Sprayed with something akin to Death Guard Green.

Painting the flesh

I decided to keep the green undercoat, but to push it towards normal fleshtones. That should conflict well and make it look extra disturbing.

Wash Athonian Camoshade.

Drybrush with successive layers. First off Heavy Warmgrey, to bring in some warmth, but not too much. I did this all over. Then drybrush Tan, mostly all over but leaving the previous grey tones visible especially down under. Then highlight with another drybrush of heavy Skintone in a zenithal style. Finally, Pale Flesh mostly around the joints and uppermost reaches.

I found the drybrush too chalky, as I often do on rounded surfaces. I did an overall layer of Darkoath Flesh, diluted with Contrast Medium around 1:2.

Painting the details

Eyes and claws. The brains are Volupus Pink over Wraithbone, with Squid Pink highlights.

Finished!
