Astra Militarum/Dark Angels vs Imperial Knights/Necrons

Mission: The Relic. As an action in the shooting phase, an infantry unit can search an objective. Roll a D6. On 1-5, remove this objective. On a 6, remove all other objectives. If not found, the last unsearched objective is automatically the Relic.

Deployment: Hammer and Anvil.

Teams: Team Imperium (Astra Militarum/Bridgehead Strikeforce and Dark Angels headed by the Lion) vs Team Robots (Imperial Knights and Necrons/Canoptek Court).

I really wanted for us to go second, but we had first turn. We hid and pulled back and let Team Robots come closer. They didn't, really, just the Wraith squad advancing on the bottom middle objective.

Battle round 2

They must not find the Relic! Unleash two squads of Scions and the Lion.

Also deploy more troops to hold the robots back.

First time trying the Bridgehead Strikeforce scions. They shoot pretty well, especially with the opposing squad on an objective. Unfortunately, the Lion failed to kill the remaining models.

Then the Wraiths fell back, a Knight came in from reserves and killed the Lion. RIP. Everything else enduring a long range shooting phase.

Battle round 3

With the robots on the move but held back for now, I searched 4 objectives but failed to find the Relic.

A long surviving Plasmancer searched the objective on the Team Robots side, also not finding it.

Endgame

With the Relic identified right in the middle, all our forces converged. 

We killed some robots, but with 2 Armigers and a Knight charging in, we were muscled off. 20-17 OC, victory to Team Robots.

Aftermath

Very close and very intense at the beginning and the end, with strange lulls in the battle on turns 3-4.  Any rolls gone either way could have made a different game - looking at you Lion, failing all your 3+ saves. Great fun, we'll do this again.
